Despite "WOW COUCH CO-OP IN POKEMON FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER" being one of the selling points of it.

-Player 2 can't interact with any NPCs
-Player 2 can't do anything with wild Pokemon in the field
-Player 2 can't collect items
-Anytime you enter a new map, Player 2 disappears, then reappears, where the game stops for a second or two while it plays their "entering" animation over again, instead of them just, you know, being there next to you
-Player 2 also can't open the menu at all or customize their trainer
-The few times the game has double-battles, it removes Player 2 from the game, so that they can't be a part of that battle.

Don't get me wrong, I'm actually enjoying the game a lot more than I was expecting to. But it's lolzy because I was on the fence and ultimately decided to get it only for co-op, since me and my fiancee could play together (she's never played any of the Kanto games). After playing it together for a night, she said "There's not really much difference between playing two-player and just watching you, so I'll just watch."

The game is good, but I just don't get how there's so many people raving about the multiplayer like it's good.

Wow, that is awful. Not being able to even pick up items or assist in double trainer battles is pretty bad. That and the making Mew exclusive, one time DLC for the Pokeball Plus is the worst. Those games are clearly lazy, shameless cash grabs and should only be bought from the bargain bin.

I think just try and help catch wild Pokemon which is idiotic beyond belief if that is all they can do.

Edit: I heard coop also let's you have a extra one of your Pokemon out when battling, which will let you steam roll almost everything.

They can in fact fight alongside you in single battles (which makes all single battles turn into 2v1), and they can help throw a pokeball with you when you're encountering a wild Pokemon.

Tbqh I think a lot of the complaints about the game's easiness are overblown, but except for co-op. The 2v1 feature basically guarantees all trainer battles you do last 1 turn.

it turns pokemon battles into a gank squad. If you use a starter and another pokemon similarly leveled, you'l lbasically steamroll your opponent with or without type weakness. It's pretty fun to just jump in with yourself to make a 2v1 gym battle. Because you can do that for some reason. You can probably even duo the elite four.

Game isn't even hard and i stopped power leveling. My Pikachu with the water move it can learn basically solo'd Blaine's gym and Giovanni's gym lol

How is it overblown? Your starter mon has perfect IVs, and inflated stats so literally OP, candies don't really have a cap, and give real stat boosts.

Mostly because I actually had a few trainers here and there gave me a run for my money when I was playing single player on my own. Misty in particular had me down to wire, only one Pokemon left on my team.

To be fair, I'm playing the game like a traditional Pokemon rather than Go. I'm not catching more Pokemon than I want on my team, so my team hasn't gotten overleveled yet, and I'm not using candy either which are broken.

It's easier to overpower your team more than ever.

But you still need to make the effort and make specific choices to do so. If you want a bit more of a challenge then that's also pretty easy to choose.

The game even gives you super broken moves, like for Eevee, you get a Water, Electric, and Fire 90 power, 100% accuracy move that is either guaranteed or nearly so to apply a status effect for the latter 2, and the former heals you.

Yeah I was taken aback by that in Cerulean. I found the move tutor and was like "I'm sorry, excuse me?" lol.

Like, I was expecting those partner moves to be like a BP of 50 or something.
