She said she is going to file an insurance claim for the time out with her insurance company. How does that even work? If I owned a company that required internet for point of sale devices I'd for sure have a cheap DSL or alternative internet service as a fallback. If, for example, you pay $60 a month for your internet (= $2 per day, using round figures because your face), and it's down for 3 days (and assuming the downtime isn't the customers fault), I think it's fully reasonable to expect to be refunded / credited the $6 for that downtime, since they failed to provide that service to you for that time. But Part D covers loss of use, so you cant live in your house you get a rental paid for plus increase in food costs, etc. Its possible some company interprets this broadly enough to cover lost internet you paid for.
