I've been thinking about getting one, mostly so I don't have to take my phone out of my pocket whenever I get a message or email.

It's really a matter of self control since I generally end up browsing websites/Facebook/Instagram/whatever for a bit after I check whatever notification popped up

Would a smartwatch be beneficial? I really just want to glance at X then hopefully get back to it later. I'd rather start using my phone more productively

In general yes I'd say they are a waste of money. Having a fitbit or something like it to motivate you to walk around can be helpful, but a watch that is just an inferior version of your phone seems pointless.

For the price, yes. If you need to spend $200+ to not mess around on your phone, I guess that's up to you.
