Episode I of the VII Remake will be PS5 in 2022. We might see Episode II about nine months later, again on the PS5. Episode III will be the PS6. A year or less after that, the trilogy will re-release as the Ultima/Mako Edition, all on the PS6, with more features... that you'll have the opportunity to buy off the cash shop once you have this edition.

That's wishful thinking. I don't expect part one of FF VII: Remake to be out in the next three years and after that time it'll probably be all PS5 games. Hell we will be lucky if we even get the full remake on PS5. I'm not even joking with how badly Square are handling it.

SE has gone all-in on the current "games as a service" model and trend, so they must find ways to make ALL of the money, and convince you, the consumer, that you want to spend so much money this way.

SE thinks that there's enough content up to docking the ship at Junon to make up one game, or at least charge one game's pricetag for that much of a larger game.

As stupid and greedy as it seems, I have no doubt that a lot of people will buy it. Just like how, after the term "whale" was coined to describe people who spend copious amounts of money on cash shops, SE made a whale mount, cash shop only, for FFXIV. I'll let you guess how many FFXIV players bought this mount. (Also, it made no references to the whale in IV) #Whaleforwhales

One key difference being that XIII and XIII-2 clearly had endgames, which involved grinding for so many hours (because some part rng, and some part crystanium points taking time to accrue). First reactor mission the Junon and even right after the ship going up to Seph receiving the Black Materia aren't exactly designed to see endgame content unless VII Remake does what the .hack// series did at the end of every volume. I suppose that makes sense to CyberConnect being involved at first, but CC was given the boot after having left a mess that set SE back.

The other major difference is that XIII was originally a singular, standalone game. It didn't need a sequel. Then two sequels were announced, and XIII-2 fell into the trap that most second parts to similar trilogies do, and gave us a direct cliffhanger. VII Remake will, no question, require that the first two episodes end on cliffhangers.

I somehow doubt they legitimately have enough content to give us three full-length games, even 20-25 hour ones (discounting exploration, and trying to find stuff out ourselves). Three volumes the length of XIII and XIII-2? No, I don't think so.

I'm well aware of what SE said. Unfortunately, SE has a habit of saying a lot of things, with so many of them not panning out. SE can say they made an exciting game that would take an avid completionist weeks to fully enjoy, but it will either be a boring slog that's 30% grinding points and 70% rng, or it'll take seven to twenty hours to push to 100%. That's not counting the insane amount of bullshit they'd throw in to make us spend even more money, such as "optional" content or costumes.

Basically, count on Yuffie and Vincent being locked behind a paywall, along with several other goodies. Be ready to spend real life money on troops for that tower defense event.
