186 gallon corner tank, custom acrylic, it's an early joint Christmas present for me and the wife, wanted to order it early and not put them in further crunch time for the holidays.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with it, might do another fully planted freshwater natural tank, maybe brackish and do some puffers or archerfish. Archerfish poke their noses above water and fire a stream of water like a water pistol at insects on branches above, which I would likely institute in the display so I can watch them snipe and eat crickets.

Or I could go the saltwater route, I always wanted to do a cold tank with cold water fish like Catalina Gobies and White Barred Boxfish. I've done normal marine tanks with some living corals and anemones, and it's very delicate and expensive, so I don't think i'm doing another tank like that.

I would do some eel type fish.

If you went Fresh Water I would do a Ropefish colony. They are eel but they are cute. So many eel's look like monsters .

Now that's a cool idea. I've always wanted a saltwater zebra eel, and think those ropefish are cool, i've never had one in any of my tanks. Do they school or have some unique behavior when kept in groups? I'm not very familiar.

They are just more active when they have friends. I had a rope fish by himself and he never came out. I assumed he died for like 6 months then I found him just hanging out. However when he really did die, it took me a white to find out. My dang convicts bugged him to death.

I had convicts once, it was a pretty big South American Cichlid tank and they wound up breeding. Needless to say, the mated couple got aggressive and killed everything else in the tank while protecting their nest.

Yeah it was mostly green terrors and firemouths. I was a bit of an amateur back then and didn't expect that result.

If you want a nicer cichlid you could try Oscars, if you get the right one they can be really pretty. And I have found that they can go with things their own size more so then what many people would suggest .

That would be cool, i've always wanted a panther chameleon. I have a bit of reptile keeping experience but not much. The only downside is the tank is going to be cut for canister filtration, and that would go to waste on a reptile terrarium.

I think they are cool, the size of them has always been a concern. I know they can get over a foot long, and i've never kept really large fish.

Funny story about large fish. I had a gar that I had to rehome after it tried to eat my turtle. I was like what is wrong with you, he has shell.

But just typing that I had another idea for your take. You do keep it simple and golden severums . They are active and they are not too aggressive.

Jellyfish require a round tank so they don't get stuck on the corners, and have a very specific and strict level of care that i'm not sure I have the time or patience for.

Dwarf octopus are cool, but are ninjas when it comes to escaping the tank. They are more intelligent than most people realize. It's something I might consider though.
