NJ doesn't have voter ID laws.

I've never had to show my id when I show in person, just give my name and address.

This year it didn't matter as I just voted by mail.

Last time I needed my ID and voter registration card. This last time all they did was scan my sample ballot.

All I did was tell them my name and address. They checked them off on their roster, then I signed my name and that was it.

I voted early by mail. It requires an active registration (which should be filed more than 30 days before the election) and a social security number for verification. Technically, I did not have to present an ID to vote. However, I am not sure what exactly I had to provide to initiate my voter registration as I have not had to register it in a very long time. Basically, I vote often enough that it never expires.

Oklahoma does have these laws. That's why there was that huge voter registration push in the lead up to the elections here.

That's why Beyonce had voter registration volunteers working the doors at all of the stops of her recent OTRII tour.

That's why a bunch of websites launched allowing people to check their registration status and, in some cases, route them to online registration resources.

They said I needed an ID when i walked in because I didn't have my sample ballot. But I told the lady my address and name and she let me vote without my ID.

Showing ID to vote has absolutely nothing to do with voter registration. Registering just makes the process quicker on election day.

Showing ID to vote has absolutely nothing to do with voter registration. Registering just makes the process quicker on election day.

Oklahoma doesn't require photo ID, so your voter identification card, which your county election board should mail to you post registration, is valid voter ID.
