Yes so these companies need to realize that its also beneficial to release big titles in the late spring and summer not just the holiday

yea the writing and characters in the first game was super cheesy and lame but the gameplay was super fun.

i might pick it up (and maybe the 2nd one i guess) in the future tho

I've heard there's a lot less combat in this one so honestly that's soured me on it.

Also it seems that SE has always been sabotaging to this series for some reason. Unrealistic sales expectations for the first one, that year long exclusivity and terrible release date for the 2nd, and a terrible release window and almost no promotion for this one.

I preferably would want a good balance of all three. It's why I didn't like Uncharted 4 as much. There was too much climbing and exploring and not enough combat moments to break it up.

a lot of their original plans for uncharted 4 sound a lot better than what we got
sam wouldnt have been part of the adventure until about halfway through the game
elena would have joined up with drake and sully much earlier in the game and been with them for most of the adventure

the original plan for the heist at the auction would have had you switching between playing as drake, elena and sully to successful pull off the heist.

In the US it did better than Rise did in its debut month and has the second highest launch of any Tomb Raider game. But that doesn't mean it met expectations.

I liked the reboot well enough. I wasn't all that excited about Rise since it felt more or less like the same game again, and then I heard that they went for the threepeat with Shadow and my interest pretty much bottomed out.

Combat has never been Uncharted's strong point so I'm not sure why you'd want more >_> especially that part in UC4 where you're alone and there's the heavy armour guy with the gatling gun and dozens of other enemies.

I liked Shadow. I think when it comes to exploration, finding and exploring tombs it's by far the best. But I can understand why people are disappointed because there's not much combat at all. The XP system is only there because it was in the previous games. It's weird.

I think it's fine. My main point is that Uncharted 4's pacing was terrible and some more combat sessions would've helped to break up the monotony, especially since they were a little more fleshed out than previous games.

There were a few moments in Uncharted 4 that dragged a bit. Primarily the climbing since it was so automatic.

its a shame to
at least elena was in more of uncharted 4 than she was of 3
one of my favorite aspects of the series is the banter between drake and elena and her small role in the third game is a big reason as to why its my least favorite in the franchise
i would have liked her role to be larger like it was in the first and second game but at least she had a hefty chunk of time helping out drake in the third act of the game

I wonder if the money they got from MS balanced out the potential sales they lost out on. No real way to tell though.

Really? A Bayonetta 2 situation? I never heard anything like that. I remember it was said that the first one sold the most on PlayStation consoles. If that's the case it's weird that it was timed and not completely exclusive.

Nah it was nothing like a Bayonetta 2 situation. That game was outright cancelled until Nintendo saved it.

It's more like what Capcom did with Sony for Street Fighter V but for a year exclusivity instead of permanent. Square-Enix probably just liked the extra cash and didn't think it would make a big difference. At most it might have given the developers a bigger budget to work with.

Not quite the same but iirc CD said Microsoft was really involved right from the beginning of the reboot (so even the first game) and considering the game never met SE's stupid high sales expections even though it sold well it's a fair guess.

Ah fair enough I can see the logic but it just backfired spectacularly. I remember people being pissed when SFV did it too.
