I'm watching a different animated movie featuring canines every Monday in November. (Muttdays in Novemfur, I'm calling it.) Last night was The Fox and the Hound. I would've made a topic about it last night, but my internet cut out.

Thoughts:

- Jeez, this is depressing. I'm pretty sure I've left tragedies in better spirits.

- Wait, Copper is voiced by Kurt fucking Russell? "I'll get you for this if it's the last thing I do... and Hell's comin' with me!"

- Vixey is, well, a fox. <_<;

- The hunter is one of the easiest Disney villains to hate.

- Pre-Renaissance 80s Disney was pretty dark. It makes me wonder how things would've gone if they'd continued on this path.

I almost feel like you could use this film to ween your kids off of cutesy animated movies. Let's take two adorable cartoon animals, the best of friends, then have them fight one another viciously while a gun-toting madman tries to kill one of them.

Anyway yeah this was a pretty good movie, I haven't watched it in decades. Think it's time I fished it out somewhere.

What's not what happens? If you think I'm exaggerating about the two leads fighting viciously or the bad guy hunter being a psycho with a gun, I'm not. He's so obsessed with hunting the fox that he endangers a woman by shooting at her vehicle while the fox is hiding in back of it.

It's highly unlikely that such a villain would appear in a children's animated movie today.

Well they don't make animated movies so...
