Holy Fury really has the makings of a top-3 expansion/patch combo. Expanded Crusades and expanded reformation of unorganized religions alone are fantastic.

What's it about

Crusader Kings 2 in general, or the expansion?

Crusader Kings 2 is a strategy game where you can play as one dynasty from 769 to 1453 (or start at nearly any period in between) throughout Europe, North Africa, or West Asia, and spread your religion of choice, conquer the whole world for your dynasty or lose most of your land and struggle to bring your dynasty back from the brink, and do really fucked up shit along the way

And apparently being able to play in a world made up of horse, dog, cat, etc dynasties.

If you're already acclimated to the mechanics, Duchess Matilda of Tuscany or Duke Robert DeHauteville of Apulia are fun starts in 1066 You'll be well-positioned to go crusading when the time comes.
Or just go to 867 and pick some one Germanic. Haesteinn of Nantes is always good. Raid all day every day, and maybe try your hand at reforming the religion.

lol I am the exact opposite. I love Victoria 2, EU4 and CK2 but cant get into HOI no matter how many times I try. The million different troops and focus on combat as well as having to learn land, naval and sky warfare just is too much for me every time. I know i would love it if i ever learn it though

the trouble with HOI is its focus on organization

you develop a long term plan that plays out over hours of real time (and years of "game time") in the other games

HOI you have to calculate a unit's movement speed such that it will arrive in the same territory as 50 other units, all at the exact same hour of game time (because it's not 300 years broken into days but rather 10 years broken into hours)

Gonna start a campaign tonight

I really should play on Ironman, I usually abuse the hell out of the console even when I tell myself I'm not going to. And the vanilla game should be less buggy than the AGoT mod so I shouldn't need it to fix events.

Also, achievements would be nice <_<

The worst part about DLC and patch releases is that I've got to update my mod to be compatible with all the new changes. It's like an entire hour I have to sit and comb through files before I can actually play the game.

This game has so much playtime possible I don't really feel bad about paying full price for DLC for it anyway

This is one of my fav games ever made, but I literally just bought Dharma for EU4 for $8.50 like a week ago and I am really into a few CCGs right now. Still will probably get sidetracked into ck2 soon enough

I wish we could combine EU4 and Crusader Kings 2. I love the character focus and traits of CK2 the most, but I really like EU4's warfare, navies, tech, massive world with exploration and coloniazation, peace deals, ect.

Also being able to play anywhere in the world really is a huge advantage for eu4 imo.

I'd like to see the borders of CK expanded, but I get why the character focus is dropped in EUIV. The time period just doesn't work with it. Of course there were still important figures, but nations sort of took the focus over 'houses'.

Anyway, I conquered Sweden, Denmark, and Norway and reformed the faith. We are Unyielding, Sea-Bound, Meritocratic, and Autonomous now. Saxony has held out and we are allied now. I haven't gone feudal yet, because I focused all my early game money on stability, but Ireland and Wales have been lucrative so I'll probably go feudal soon.

I've got a question, though. Since we can't raise tribal armies anymore, is there any point in not going feudal? Before, the tribal armies meant the difference between survival and being swept under the fuedal/iqta, but I don't really see any advantage now that it is gone.

The tribal 5k doomstack has been replaced by basic, primary Light infantry retinues that cost prestige to purchase. It is definitely a huge downgrade though since you arent going to be able to field the equivalent doomstack without a huge well developed tribal demense.

But to answer your question, the only reason i would say there is to stay tribal is to pay for castle upgrades with prestige instead of cash. Once you have all the upgrades there isnt much point.

Ill have to look in the notes to see if they have tribal retinue size changes

Ah, so like the nomads, then?

That makes it super useful for early game conquests when you are all even with your neighbors and need to gobble up a few counties to tip your scales, but it basically just makes tribalism useless by mid game.

Warrior Lodges are awesome. Started the game as the Duchess of Kiev in 769, forged a big realm, became a horrifically-scarred murder machine, went on a legendary journey and got my head crushed by a giant Greek guy. 10/10, would go again.
She totally would have murdered that giant if she was in her prime, but she was, like, 64, and being old hurts your personal combat score.
Seriously though, warrior lodges are the best. Fight everyone, sacrifice random dudes to your Gods, get missions that make raiding extra profitable. My one complaint is that everything seems annoyingly stable in vanilla.

What's it about

As others said, you play as one family and try to expand your empire. But the game is fucking insane because the people that are in the game can be insane and you can do a lot of really, REALLY fucked up things in it.

Here, let's play the, "Things said in CK2," or, "legit questions you need to know, but sound fucked up out of context" game

Is it easier to get my wife knocked up if she likes me?

Can I fuck the Pope if we're both homosexual?

My husbands keep committing suicide. How do I stop that?

Fuck, I killed my kids for nothing

Which DLC do I need to rape people?

How do I make a weapon out of herpes?

How hard is it to strangle an 8 year old?

Are 16 year olds more futile?

Can I sleep with my son if we're both gay?

Why can't I castrate the 11 year old in my dungeon?

Yes, all of this and more. Yes, you can kill your own children. Yes, your wife can go crazy and become a Witch. Yes, you can fuck you own mother.
