Was just watching it last night, and it occurred to me that they call it the Sorcerer's stone, even tho the rest of the world knows it as the Philosopher's stone. Did they they film those scenes twice or did the movies just call it the Sorcerer's stone everywhere?

Because the American title was different, all scenes that mention the philosopher's stone by name had to be re-shot, once with the actors saying "philosopher's" and once with "sorcerer's".

I'm so sick of the rest of the world acting like all Americans are idiots. From saying we wouldn't know what a "Philosopher" was to not letting us have the correct names in video games (Final Fantasy IV is Final Fantasy II in the States, along with "Earthbound" not being "Mother 2") to censoring content like making women wear less revealing clothes

To be fair at least 43% of the voting population are idiots so i can see why they have to slow things down for us.

Also just look at our shitty imperial measuring system.

the Philospher's Stone is I guess a pretty famous (supposedly anyway) legend in europe. or at least in the UK. I guess they thought it wasn't famous in america. I don't know about other people or about kids, but I knew about it. but I used to read a lot about old legends

Sorcerer's Stone is pretty cringe.

My understanding is that in the first Harry Potter book a lot of the Britishisms were changed so as not to confuse children. I don't know if that's true of the later books. So I remember hearing for instance that Dudley's first word (Shan't) was changed to something else for the American version.
