I really liked that film. But some people have criticised it, and perhaps didn't like it. So, they should be punished.

I'm sure it's a well made movie, but I don't particularly care much for movies about bands. Especially bands that I really like. To me, a good band is "bigger" than a movie. Their original recordings are always going to sound better, and the music itself is going to be the selling point anyway.

Across the Universe, The Buddy Holly Story, etc...I'd way rather listen to the original recordings by Buddy Holly and The Beatles. I watch these movies and I get pissed that the covers, while not bad, are not nearly as good in quality. And that makes sense, because if you're making a movie about a band, then it's because that band is legendary and thus made masterful recordings that wound up being mega timeless hits.

And if the movie is just playing the original recordings instead of doing covers, then what's the point? I already know what happens anyway....they were a band, they recorded music, they played live shows, there were obstacles and drama along the way, maybe a tragedy or two.

But that's just me. I'd rather watch videos of the actual band members in action back in the day either playing live or messin' around in the studio. And I like to read up on them too.

Also, I read that the way the movie handles Mercury's sexuality is pretty, uh, insensitive, to say the least.

Also, TC, you should really be careful about posting your legal opinions. Although you were clearly using hyperbole to express your passion for this movie by saying people who didn't like it should be put in prison, the mods tend to not consider such methods of writing, and will look at a post a hundred different ways to see if there's just one inkling of a possibility that somebody might be offended. Of course, somebody would have to mark the post first, so if you don't have haters following you around looking for ways to punish you, you should be fine.

It basically ignores it completely. The actual band queen, are a bunch of wankers upset they have had to live in Freddie's shadow.
