They sold their company for literally $0 and then cried because they didn't sell it enough for a chairman level in the company to actually make any money off of it. This is hilarious.

Now their channel is dead because of their stupid choices.

That's not at all what's happening. He has no business with Smosh now and he even owns up to not being smart enough when selling his company.

Ian still works and seems to operate Smosh and he said they're already working to find a new parent company.

There's no meltdown.

I haven't followed smosh in 7 years or so but nothing you said is very accurate from a quick google search and watching the video.

i thought you needed an actual amount of money to sell (usually a dollar is used).

if it was $0 then that isn't a sale, it's a gift

It was sold for stock in a company that never went public.

wat. Just because it's not openly traded on a market, doesn't mean it doesn't have value. It just makes determining the value more difficult.

No, it really, really doesn't.

Shares in privately held companies can be every bit as lucrative as those in publicly traded companies. I have no idea why on Earth you'd think that shares for a private company have no value - like, if someone offered to give you shares in Ikea, would you turn them down?

I kinda hoped the Smosh channels went down though. They haven't made any quality content for a very long time.

Those Honest game trailers are literally the only good thing they upload and even those are getting stale as heck(same goes for Screenjunkies' Honest Trailers and I bet the guy who's voicing the trailers is getting tired of the doing it for so many years).

Wow, talk about stupid. Being a 'on paper millionaire' means nothing. During the Dot Com bubble tons of people in the Bay Area were this. As in had on paper they had shares in a company that was 'valued' at a high price. But couldn't access the shares due to vesting restrictions. Come to find out the companies wern't worth anything, nor produced anything

I didn't think Smosh had been relevant in years. I'm still questioning their decision to make a gaming channel filled with the most random nobodies in existence with maybe one or two appearances by the creators for like the first few months. Only reason people are subscribed is likely for name brand and Honest Game trailers.

I used to love their shit when I was a kid.
