This isn't surprising at all from the research and opinions I've read about it. Basically you had a rag tag group aligned from the far left to far right that wanted to do something dramatic to push back against what they perceived as a weakness without any real plan of how to get that done. So the people on the far right and far left were never going to come to an agreement on specifics of Brexit as there's multiple groups that all want different things. It's why basically all the "leaders" of it have seen their popularity tank as nothing gets done and its dragging May down as well.

The government needs to swallow its pride and have a new referendum because voters and politicians alike clearly were ignorant to all of the details. They could frame it differently to not look like dictators and give people multiple choices to rank. "Brexit by any means", "remain", "Brexit with a deal only"...

I don't fancy another referendum, why should I trust the same people who got us into this mess again?

Just cancel it.

also it feels like lets have another vote because we didnt like the outcome of the first one

ideally it would be great to have politicians realise that brexit is a symptom of poor policy decisions by conservatives and a decade of austerity

people dont really want to leave the EU but just want a better funded NHS, more school places, an actual real time wage increase, affordable housing, etc that has unfortunately been blamed on immigrants by the right wing press

As stupid as I find Brexit, the Dover calais agreement predates the EU and France have already said they will uphold it.

Why should Europe recognize that? The UK had a practical sweetheart deal in the EU, they still bitched about it nonstop, held a referendum that they were told would mean they would be out if they voted for it, still voted for it, and now whoops they aren't getting a good deal and want it undone?

The EU should just say they're out full stop and force them to negotiate from a position of extreme weakness now where they're forced to concede on every issue almost entirely. Either that or rejoin without their previous exceptions like having a separate currency.

Elections have consequences, and the British made a generational fuckup. Good job, enjoy the mess of your own making. Would other countries remotely accept it if the US came out of 2020 acting like the Trump administration never happened? Nope, we fucked up and will have hell to pay.

Get the fuck out of town

Do you know how close the vote was

and how many people have expressed they've changed their mind since

This is a prime example of "old man yells at clouds" only its more like "old man tears burns down house because he doesn't like the curtains"

The UK has a "Shadow Cabinet" for the opposition. They follow the government's work and criticize it as appropriate. The Shadow Brexit Minister is a mirror of the government's Brexit Minister.

I agree, but it seems less "democratic", which doesn't really bother me ethically here because I feel like it happens to be in the best interests of the country, but that's a slippery slope... I'm just pissed it passed because of fuckery like my passport losing a lot of weight and stuff like people in my family being from different EU countries and now they're like "uhh... thanks for that" and not sure what their future will hold.

The people who gave it to us resigned/fled
Those leading it admit they didn't know what it would mean or were against it to begin with
Those who campaigned for admit they lied

Good times.

The entire Brexit fiasco is just so incredibly Britain. Trying to fix a problem with a drastic measure that they have no real plan in what that measure means and now regretting that decision and wanting to go back to the way things were.

Just....you guys are so wonky
