eh. Wind Waker is the best 3d zelda imo. OoT was very boring to me. I'd play oot over MM anyday though.

It may not impact your opinion of it at all, but Wind Waker is one of the most blatantly unfinished games ever made.

Exactly.

I literally didnt know what to do after tower of the gods

I disliked Zelda after a link to the past. Not sure why, but I just wasn't into it anymore even though I collected most of the games after a link to the past.

Ocarina of time randomized is the only way I play it now

did you see the multiplayer setting for the randomizer? it makes a group of linked games (you choose number of players) and shuffles the items across all games. so some of your items might be in other peoples' games ad you need to wait for them to pick it up before you get it

I love multiworld, I'm waiting for spikevegeta and the lot of them to do a 31 man multiworld

worst 3D Zelda

Second best, after BotW. Every other 3D Zelda has atrocious pacing issues to the point that huge portions of the games are tedious, insufferable slogs.

OoT not being called overrated is ludicrous. Which is why I question so much of the mainstream press it got back in the day now that we know about all the paid stuff and back door networks going on nowadays.

To think with how often it gets called 'the best game ever' it wouldn't be called overrated like every other game that gets limelighted to this degree is just absurd. There is no consensus, or plurality opinion on what the best game is. When people say the game is GOAT, obviously people are going to disagree. If it's not their favorite game, that automatically places it overrated. As in not 1.

The only game that I can think of in this category of being brought up that has a case for avoiding overrated criticism is Tetris. Because it's such a simple concept of game that it's virtually impossible to come at it with some in depth perspective of criticism of mechanics. Because it has no real mechanics. It's just simplistically beautiful.

I've always disliked OoT. And I knew plenty of people who also did in 1998. I think it set a piss poor standard for what a 3D adventure game would be like. And unfortunately it set the template because there was no template. So make way for dungeons being designed around torch lighting, pushing crates, and solving completely boring spatial puzzles instead of having danger, enemy encounters and exploration in them for a good decade until Demon's Souls showed up. Everyone's naivety for just seeing an adventure game from the Zelda series in 3d unfortunately blinded them to all of its poor design issues and they were never addressed because the 3d dimension was so shiny nobody gave a shit to look at the game critically.

It was just never socially acceptable to criticize it in the late 90s (yet everyone had a free pass on shitting on FF7) and I'm beginning to think there were some politics involved in that from legacy and loyalty to Nintendo and the shift in a lot of companies going over to Sony.

Torch lighting is fine but I'm as tired of pushing and pulling crates as much as the next guy.

What do you suggest the puzzles be?

I'm glad people talk shit about the game.

Imagine if everybody agreed that gaming was better in the 90's.

Saying OoT sucks shows two things.
1. You probably weren't there or you'd judge it based on what else was around at the time.
2. Gaming is moving forward.

Be glad when someone says your favorite old game sucks. It beats the hell out of them not having ever heard of it.

with the 3DS version it's still very accessible to newcomers, although most people will want to consult a walkthrough from time to time

actually the water temple added some sign like features making it easier to figure out where to go and it added a small cutscene for that one area in the pillar that becomes accessible when you raise the water

I believe it. As I said, I never really bothered with the original version because it never held my interest as a child for too long.

It bums me out that so many kids were born later and just can't see OoT the way me and so many other fans do.

Though it also bums me out that I can't enjoy those text only DOS adventures since I was born in '85.
