I'm taking a couple hours off work to go vote. Also starting to research the requirements to set up my own shop come January when the legislation takes effect.

I've worked at dispensaries before and have a caretaker license (idk the specifics of what it's called but I'm the sole caretaker for my aunt) so I have experience in the field

Things are gonna finally start looking brighter if this thing passes

Does legalization mean they can't tell me I have to drug test for it for my medication?

Like medicine as in medical marijuana or regular medicine? Idk for medicine specifically, but the law as it's written (I'm in Michigan) says that employers still have the right to test employees/applicants if they see fit.

If they don't now then I doubt it tbh. Drug tests cost money that not everyone is willing to spend.

Sorry, was vague. Im prescribed pain medication and it's the only reason I have to drop. Im also in Michigan. They only started testing me the last couple years. First like 6 years I was on the medication they didn't say shit. I guess it became a higher leveled drug or something

Damn, it might be because it gets affected by outside chemicals. Sorta like how ibuprofen can't mix with alcohol.

Idk. I'd honestly just ask your doctor about it. Worried I might say something completely wrong lol. Like, I've had to do urinary tests and blood analysis every so often when I was prescribed anxiety medication but that was because of abuse and OD history on my records so idk what or how it being legal would affect your situation.

Hopefully they'll allow it for you, but I guess it depends on how whatever you're taking acts when thc is introduced into your system

Here in Arizona, having your medical card prevents you from being terminated for a positive Marijuana test... If you aren't working in federal jobs.

Im not working anywhere. Hell, I don't even drive lol. I use to be completely open with my doctors that I smoked weed then suddenly they were like "you have to drop". It was bullshit. I said Id be dirty so there was no point in me doing it, cause Ive been saying I smoked weed and the doctor acted like I wasn't gonna get my refill. I got really anxious and almost cried cause I rely on the medication to be able to enjoy life. Eventually got a call that it was filled after I went home. They must of realized how much they were fucking me up. Now I smoke 2 months and quit a month before I have to drop.

You're in one of the few states that have work protections.

Nah, medical patients are still discriminated against in the job market (at least in most places). The number one thing that needs to be done is to remove marijuana from all drug testing panels. I dont mind taking a drug test to prove that Im not in crystal meth or prescription pain medicine, but no employer has a right to know whether I smoke marijuana. The able-bodies workforce is sitting on their ass because we refuse to take drug tests.

My question wasn't about work, but I agree with everything you said. I just want to be able to smoke weed and still be on my pain medication I need to not feel pain while getting around.

I agree. Tons of companies around here always complain on the news that they have trouble hiring people because they can't pass a drug test. Here's an idea, stop testing for weed.

Apparently our measure coming up for vote is going to be the most liberal recreational marijuana measure in the country.

Oh, my bad. In Colorado, I had to choose when I broke my back. If I got pain medicine, I had to take drug tests to prove that I was taking the medicine they gave me, but federal law dictated that I be denied pain medicine if I had marijuana in my system even though it was legal.

It was like a federal law vs state law clash that... actually really helped me out. I refused the drug tests and the pain medicine because I really didnt need it and I didnt want to go down that road. They were making sure it didnt turn into a long-term thing.

North Dakota. It's what a lot of these ads and pamphlets have been saying about the measure, so it can be taken with a grain of salt I guess. As far as I know, if it passes there will be no regulations on it save for I think a 21 age limit (maybe 18?). No taxes either.

You made the right call. I have no intention of ever quitting cause Ill always have severe scoliosis. But even if I all of a sudden didn't have scoliosis, I feel like it would be hard to be like "well, don't need these anymore". Im content though and that's all that matters to me.

Wow, it seems like the tax money is one of the big pushes for legalization. I wonder if that will affect it's passing. Here in Michigan, people have been posting "pot for pot holes" since we have the worst roads in the country and nobody wants to raise any of the other taxes to fix them.
