Saw a couple of documentaries today, one about just before and after the formation of Germany, focusing mostly on Wilhelm I and Otto von Bismarck, and then another documentary about Wilhelm II, i.e. Wilhelm I's grandson. I must admit, I knew very little of it, like Germany fighting Austria and then France in the late 19th century, and the personality problems Wilhelm II had that drove him to make war on Europe (and lose, thankfully).

It's hard to imagine how much various factions in Europe used to hate each other. In 2018, we get on (reasonably) well, but back then, there was plenty of friction, war, and people with contrary goals.

I thought this was going to be about, like, early Germanic tribes coming together to form Germany. This history is cool though too I guess. What documentaries?
