Where Blizz absolutely deserves criticism is in a) saving that announcement for last as if it was a hype bomb and b) not even teasing D4 as being something thats coming during Blizzcon.

But that said, I mean... they explicitly said a few weeks ago theyve got multiple Diablo products in the works with most not ready for this years Blizzcon. I dont think this reflects on there not being a future full fledged game at all.

People aren't angry that this is the "only Diablo thing in the works". They're angry that it's a reskin of a Chinese mobile game made by the most predatory company on the planet for monetization, and that their response to fan unrest at the idea is "what, don't you own a phone?"

I DONT get Diablo is dead because theyre making a mobile game with a real full game coming. Its just bad optics stuff.
