My wife doesnt play many games. We played Uniracers a lot, and party games like Mario Party, Jack Box, Ultimate Chicken Horse and the like.

Outside of that, the only game my wife played with me was Diablo 3. I showed her this and she was very let down. She's been whining about wanting a new Diablo for years now...

If anything, assuming that fans dont want this because "mobile games are popular with girls" is the more sexist statement....what the fuck.

The fucked up part is handhelds didn't drop in sales. Nintendo continued to stomp ass like they always do with their handheld systems...it's just that life pretty much necessitates a phone and everyone has a smartphone now so....

For those who are unaware, the Diablo franchise was already in bad shape. Being generous, Diablo 3 at launch and current, is divisive at best - a complete shitshow to many.

They're letting a shitty Chinese company reskin some garbage Pay2Win mobile game as Diablo, then got upset at the fans for calling out their bullshit.

Combine that with the awful Classic showcase, and the piss poor PR Blizzard has had for ages, people are not letting this slide.

We even have a new joke to go with "You think you do but you don't" - "Don't you people have phones?"

there have definitely been some good mobile games made

but netease isn't one of those people. the biggest thing that disappointed me from this announcement was saying they were partnered with netease on this since they pretty much only make reskinned p2w clone games of popular games already out there. While the backlash would probably still be pretty big, if they had an actual good developer make it or if they made it themselves even (and also not making it the last announcement of the day with all the hype they built on this announcement and whatnot) it wouldn't be as bad as it is now.

Honestly D4 is still 100% coming, theyve all but said so, so Im having a hard time getting TOO mad. This is still a total PR shitshow though. Reminds me of the Metroid Federation Force thing.

Blizzard explicitly tried to pump the brakes on Diablo hype for this year but the hype train was already off the rails. I dont think having a Diablo mobile game is a bad idea but they shouldve followed it by teasing a full Diablo game in the pipeline (even if it was just an Elder Scrolls VI type 15 second hype vid). That wouldve smoothed things so much.

To go to a convention to expect something exciting for your game, only to be told that it's a mobile game. At your annual convention. Your annual convention. Not some sort of Gamescon convention, your own. Announcing a mobile game as the big reveal. Look bro, even for those who had absolutely no expectations, this is just a slap in the face.

This is coming from a person who hasn't even touched a Blizzard game for years and never really played Diablo III (yes, I've played some of it though). This is just disappointing. And you know what? I had absolutely no expectations nor was I even aware of anything Blizzard related. I've only saw it after it was announced and that annoyed me. I didn't assume anything.

And did you not read that Blizzard was trying to hype people up about Diablo? You gonna hype people up about Diablo to have them assume that it's nothing more than a mobile game? Is that what interests you? When you get hyped up for something big, would you assume that that something big is a mobile game?
