Yes. Standard rifles, shotguns, and a sniper. No live targets, just shooting at cans / bottles / clay pigeons.

I was told to be careful of the recoil, and then I felt like a big strong man when I barely noticed the recoil.

I felt a lot of recoil and my ears were ringing for a second the first few times I went shooting with my cousin

After that all I noticed were my ears ringing a bit.

Ear protection helps but they still ring a bit regardless

Made the mistake of grabbing the barrel after shooting and it was hot!

I've only shot fully semi-automatic guns and fully bolt-action rifles. I like bolt action the best and I plan on buying a small bolt rifle some day

shotgun, .22 and .177.

The .177 was actually a school team. in the school, no less.

I wish I still had the .177. They seem to be 3x the price now as it was when I bought it. And it wasn't cheap then.

The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don't know what you're doing. The brass shell casings disoriented me as they flew past my face. The smell of sulfur and destruction made me sick. The explosions loud like a bomb gave me a temporary form of PTSD. For at least an hour after firing the gun just a few times, I was anxious and irritable.

Isn't the shockwave a joke? You can't even aim the POS. They really should invent some sight that allows you to look down. Kinda like a reflex sight but with the picture on the top of the gun.

My Dad was in WW II, British Merchant Navy. Fired shitty merchant ship guns at Luftwaffe planes a few times during the Atlantic campaign.

Pretty sure his Dad was in WWI but I'd have to check through old photos again.

Dad didn't go to Korea or Vietnam (Became a Canadian citizen and we only sent like 2000 dudes total in the waning days of 'Nam) but he was involved in Cold War shit on the Canadian part of the DEW line.

In the end, WW1 was pretty much a practice run for WW2.

Patton, Rommel, Zhukov, Montgomery, Eisenhower, and even Hitler learned everything they needed to do in The War to End All War, and then we did it all again, about twenty years later.

Rommel's book on WW1 is damn good. You should read it.

Decided not to be a lazy drunk.

Couldn't find any photos of Grandpa during the war, but I did find this pic of Dad as a kid so obviously this would be a few years later, probably around the depression, or shortly before it.
