Every single person who personally insults Sakurai or is generally being a whiny baby. Also anyone trying to act like the game is going to bomb in sales/with critics now.

Boohoo the leak was faked and you got yourselves overly hyped after being warned by Sakurai most the roster was shown and the reveals would slow.

You got all your cut characters back. You got Ridley and King K Rool after all these years. You got fucking Simon Belmont. But god forbid they add a new Pokmon like they do in literally every smash game. Delusional fools acting like Incineroar is some unknown deeply deposed Pokmon. Its literally one of three starting choices in a game that sold over 16 Million and was one of the most meta relevant Pokmon at VGC18.

But no Geno(one shot spinoff character) and Waluig(Exclusively in spinoffs. Never had his own game) Issac(Character from a long dead series that was never popular) are so much more popular and beloved than a starter Pokmon? To a very small core fan base sure but Incineroar is certainly more known in the general public.

That said Samus isnt a popularity contest. It can help get you in but there is so much more at play than that. And that is a good thing. WTF picks like Pirhana Plant and and retro picks like Mr.Game and Watch give us surprises and blizzard movesets we never saw coming.

Being disappointed is fine though I find it beyond staggering that someone could not find quite a few characters to like in the overall roster.

But holy shit the board is just embarrassing. People want Sakurai to retire because no Geno. Its madness.

Oh and seems like some account suicides too. Some dude posted Pirhana plant porn...

I can guarantee that it wasn't planned at all and was probably a few people joking around, which is why it isn't finished yet.

I can see that.

A couple programmers made a basic Pirhana plant fighter prototype as a joke and Sakurai thought it was fun so he decided to roll with it.

Game development can be pretty chaotic and ever changing. A lot of things we take for granted were last minute changes or done for mundane technical reasons rather than artistic reasons or simply done on a whim. There have even been instances of someone adding things without permission or doing something on their own and when they are discovered or present it everyone loves it and they are like Yeah man throw it in

Or the was an assist trophy and someone ended up getting ideas for pirhana that convinced sakurai(unless it was Sakurai himself) to make him a full fighter.

My favorite story about this is the Dubstep Gun from Saints Row IV. Apparently, two separate teams were working on one as a joke, neither of them knew of the other team doing that.

I think you underestimate Incineroar's global popularity. I think here people wanted Decidueye more than Incineroar I might dare to think.

Also he's the first real pure grappler/wrestler we have on Smash. He's more unique that Decidueye who would've been another projectile character

Some people will never be satisfied with rosters no matter what the developers do. You could have 100 characters with 0 characters from the previous games missing and people will somehow complain *even more* than if there's less than 40. They always want more.

Even long beforehand some people were calling for Sakurai to be removed and have someone else take the reins. As if having a different director would guarantee that their favorite character would get in. Now I kinda would like to see a different director work on the next Smash game. And then they go ahead and not add Waluigi or Geno or Goku(still can't believe people are seriously suggesting him). Detractors who were happy that Sakurai was gone will then turn around and take it personally, demanding their head on a platter.

People don't want a director who makes a good game, they just want a puppet who bows down to their wishes.

People bitched for years about Ridley being excluded and now that he's in they switch gears to Geno and Waluigi, two worthless characters that don't deserve a spot on the roster.

It honestly seems like those people aren't the majority though. From what I've seen, most people do actually appreciate the sheer amount of effort in Ultimate and whenever anyone starts whining they're usually quick to call them out. Now, obviously I'm not talking about the Smash board though.
