We have four total weeks of PTO. "Sick" days, vacation, and anything else is lumped in to those times.

If I'm sick, I take PTO. If I'm on vacation, I take PTO. If I too wanted to get drunk and play video games, I'd take PTO.

Cool. I get 3 weeks now but I'll have 4 in 2020.

Yep. My state gives every employee an hour of sick time per 30 hours worked regardless of how little you work. On top of that I get like 3x that for sick/vacation time. I might get shitty wages but I get way more PTO than most of my friends.

We don't really track sick days. If you are sick you just let the incharge and manager on the job know. They'll tell you to focus on feeling better. If it is going to be more than a couple of days, then you talk to HR and they'll figure out some sort of plan and you might need to take some of your PTO. That said, even the newest employees start with 18 days of PTO so typically you can use a day or two of that without it eating too much of your ability to have planned vacations.

I should probably not, though, I can accrue like 60 days of sick time that rolls over yearly, and only like 15 days of annual leave...

hmm

This, but I didn't get them until I'd been working full time for like 18 months. If you're part time you the time before you start earning sick leave is like double.

1 week's worth of "self cert" (ie, you just call on and say you don't feel well), more than that and you'd need a doctors note with an actual diagnosis. Four weeks annual leave for holidays etc.

This but I get 25 PTO days and 6 holidays so I'm not hurting for time off. Also the rare occasion I'd get sick, I could just work from home. Last time I was sick I'd work for two hours then nap for two hours throughout the day. Didn't have to take PTO for that.

Never sick though. And I have a job that when i call in, somebody else is either forced to stay my shift or they have to spread my work around to other people. Feel too guilty even though other people call in all the time.

Pretty much this, except instead of eating into vacation time, every year or so they tally up everyone's billable hours and fire the people with the least to make room for new hires, transfers, and whatever interns I haven't driven to suicide.

So, I guess you could take a month or two off in sick days if you really wanted to, but you're just guaranteeing that you lose your job next time the shake up happens.
