unless said election has an incredibly small voter pool, but even at something like a hundred total votes, yours alone is meaningless. if you not casting your vote encourages others to also not vote, it's less meaningless, but unless your sphere of influence covers thousands of people (giving you thousands of votes), it's still not going to make a difference

why vote when it doesn't matter either way?

voter turnout goes up and down, but barring an apocalypse, it'll never go down to 0% in a non third-world country. your presence or lack thereof (unless you're able to influence thousands of people) has no effect on voter turnout. someone will always win, and your contribution will always be meaningless
