The humor comes from people being too weak to ignore something that was clearly meant to piss them off and nothing else. If you know someone wants you to get mad and you don't, THAT is a win. People prefer to give them the angry reaction and it keeps on.

Same for religious humor. Those jokes will end when people stop reacting to them. If you really want an offensive type of comedy to disappear, you gotta learn that.

I definitely don't want that to actually happen, though. I don't want offensive comedy to ever go away. I only talk about the solution because I know people are too weak-willed to do it. It's here to stay and I have people like you to thank for that.

If Bishop9800 was my kinda guy, I'd tolerate makeup enough to do blackface and he would do the talcum powder thing and we would walk down the street side by side enjoying the hilarity while taking none of it seriously and then having a beer or something.

Dude, I left a carnival and there was a traffic jam. My friend in the passenger seat gets sick of it and just gets out of the car and walks into the center of the 4-way. He starts directing traffic IN NORMAL CLOTHES and people listened. It took care of the traffic jam.

I was amazed.

Add an extra five minutes onto to the speech at this otherwise fun Halloween party to explain why everyone else shouldn't be offended because at the end of the day it won't matter.

See the point I'm laboriously trying to get around to here is that real social settings are not like CE where you can open with a long post with links and references. In real social settings, first impressions are super key and if everyone sees you walk in with blackface at a Halloween party, judgment has happened, and no amount of discussion you have afterward will sway that back to the side of being positive from your perspective.

Odds are you won't get a chance to make these speeches or discussions because everyone else will be too busy awkwardly avoiding you rather than be directly confrontational.

That was my summer job for my whole teen years and sometimes in my 20's if work was seasonal. Chopping weeds out of cotton fields. Sometimes nearly 70 hours a week just because I wanted the extra money.
