- PS5 and Xbox Scarlett will be out
- Nintendo will keep reiterating on the Switch model. Switch 2 first. Probably something a bit more new towards the end of the decade
- Game streaming and subscriptions gains significant momentum and becomes a popular way to play games
- VR keeps gradually gaining momentum. At some point of the decade we will see a big breakout
- Final Fantasy VII Remake gets delayed

I can forsee V.R. taking large strides forward. Maybe it'll be more affordable to the masses?

I forsee that in the 2030s we'll have large scale problems of people getting PTSD from playing CoD or something like that in full VR. So much so that it'll be debilitating for 30% of the adult population.

My assumption is that we are going to see a bigger push into VR.

Sony is still probably gunshy to try a console/handheld hybrid like Nintendo.

Microsoft also probably don't want to rock the boat after Xbox Ones horrible launch. But they would possibly be more willing to go into VR since it has a bigger presence on PC's right now, and they could use that to incorporate it into Xbox.

I suspect AAA games will continue the downward trend, to the point where those who prefer indies may even become the majority.

That's not to say there aren't some gems among AAA games, but a lot of them are getting really unoriginal now.

Yeah I think that'll happen since they have those rather affordable Windows MR headsets. I think they did have plans to start that with Xbox One X but they decided to wait until next gen.

I agree with the rest, but I still think this is probably a trend that will fade, once again. This isn't even the first or second attempt at it, and the failure to use it in any sort of 'fun' way is going to kill it again. Just look at how little coverage PSVR gets now compared to when it launched. It's library hasn't really expanded much and it's mostly included as a feature in otherwise non-VR games. 90% of the catalog is still tech demos that, while sometimes impressive, still fail to actually be 'games'.

There are already quite a few fun and unique games on the platform. Astro Bot only came out a month ago.

The big problem is it's still not really accessible or affordable for most people and the market is still very fragmented and confusing to get into.

And I think that's the problem. I'm not saying there are no good or fun games, but it's just not feasible and I don't see it being profitable enough in the next 2 years to change that.

The topic is about the 2020's though <_<

I'm really interested to see what Sony does about their next PSVR. If I had to bet on a company breaking through to the mainstream I'd go with them. I wouldn't rule out a standalone VR system being released by them next gen.

I think Microsoft and Windows Mixed Reality also have a good idea. Potentially they have an affordable headset that's easy to set up that will work on both PC and console. But yet next to no one even knows about it. No idea what they're really thinking. Probably something that's a bit half-baked in the company.

Consoles will become more like PCs with the ability up upgrade them mid gen instead of having to buy an updated model. Memory expansions and harddrive upgrades can be done in seconds.
