tl;dr: Had to switch assignments.

Patients wife decided to cuss me out because I wasnt gonna keep him flat and replace literally all of the bedding while his oxygen was dropping; somehow, not wanting this man to die (exaggeration, but still an unsafe situation ) made me a fucking lazy nurse. I told her it would be done after he settled down a bit and had more consistent oxygenation.

Previously she was ignoring me when I asked her questions like if she was ok with me giving certain meds () , or if she had any concerns about the care being given.

Sigh. Theres a first for everything I suppose. Feels shitty though. Normally Im good at placating people.

Best thing to do is just swallow your pride, smile and then bitch about it to your coworkers later. The amount of stress this type of stuff puts families under can sometimes make them forget you're a person too

Absolutely. I understand how stressful it is first hand to have loved ones that are ill and dying. Just makes me feel shitty because I wanna take care of people, and its unfortunate that these things happen. Not going to be the last time, either.
