Zeppelin blatantly stole yes, especially in their early years. But they added their own thing to it, and made some of the greatest rock songs ever made. These hacks just imitate Zeppelin's sound with shallow, asinine lyrics and call it a day. They do absolutely nothing original.

They're literally just a Zeppelin cover band but singing shit songs instead of good ones.

Zeppelin is disqualified from being the greatest rock band just based on how much they stole. If kids want to look up to influential bands that changed rock music, they would be better off looking at The Mothers of Invention and The Velvet Underground.

I almost like GVF but...no. If they sounded noticeably like Zep but still had a bit of uniqueness, I'd probably like them more. As it is, they're so similar that it almost creates an uncanny-valley effect in my mind; the discrepancies are so obvious that it makes me just want to turn them off and listen to the real deal. I'll keep an eye on them, hoping to see them move away from the Zeppelin worship and into a more personal sound. Right now, I just don't feel any compulsion to listen to it.

Anthem is a pretty cool track

I heard "Highway Tune" a lot on the radio earlier this year, then "When the Curtain Falls" more recently. Kept thinking both were Zeppelin songs I'd never heard before, but there was something in his voice that sounded off. Wasn't until like two weeks ago I found out who the band was.

I heard the band claims they don't try to sound like LZ, but I ain't buying it. I like to think they're poking fun at LZ for not giving credit to their influences and/or straight up ripping off songs.

The first twaaaannggg before the song even began sucked too.

The song was bad with some nice high parts.

I was more commenting on GVF fans bursting into any conversation about bands like Ghost, but regardless, that's not really true of Ghost's fanbase at all. I'd bet the majority of Ghost listeners like them PRECISELY because of the retro sound. The theatricality is overtly tongue-in-cheek.

People who like Ghost's theater are less likely to be actually into devil-worship than they are to be into the theater of, like, early Bowie characters and stuff.

To be fair, the entire concept of Ghost is Tobias Forge playing a series of characters that head a Satanic cult, so he's not just describing some random rock band as "devil music"

But you can listen to/watch Ghost for like ten minutes and get that they're going for a campy Halloween party vibe as opposed to a serious thing. I mean, their latest album has a skeletal pope playing a roaring Springsteen-y sax solo.
