it's not scary in the conventional sense, but the scariest movie, for me, was A Beautiful Mind

just because of the mental issues a person can go through, and sometimes being unable to determine the difference between delusion and reality

The recent movie Searching was terrifying but the ending was a bit weak.

The first 40 minutes of Lost Highway (1997) is my current pick for the scariest movie Ive ever watched. I feel like Inland Empire (2006) might change things once I finally get around to watching it...

The naked cultists and floating Toni Collette at the end of the movie were scary imo.

A few people in my theater and one of the guys I was with laughed at that floating scene and the part where she floats there cutting her head off I didn't laugh myself though. I was just bored by the time the end came around.

I genuinely hope those people don't reproduce.

John Carpenter's The Thing.

The other two movies in that trilogy are pretty damned good too

JCs Apocalypse Trilogy pratically makes up my top three films from him. Prince of Darkness is easily the most flawed of the trilogy, but whats there was so good... loved the imagery in that one.

100% agreed.

The scene in Prince of Darkness where the people are just standing outside surrounding the church really creeped me out, but it wasn't as good as the other two for sure.
