These are the same people that regularly excuse swastikas and nooses being placed outside of people's homes. It's not exactly a huge shock that they'd see a bunch of inert bombs being sent to the addresses of people they hate and not see what the big deal is.

Even if the bombs were full of candy McDonalds toys, the intention is still to threaten and intimidate. The bombs being made safe is pretty irrelevant to the terroristic intent.

Robbing a store with an unloaded gun isnt going to garner brownie points because the gun is safe. The intent to a rational person observing would be that the bad guy intends to shoot someone if his demands are not complied with. After-the-fact safety is pretty irrelevant.

Id still be concerned that someone was threatening me in that way. Id still be concerned even if their attempt at hurting me didnt work. The viability of what he sent doesnt change any context. He was a politically motivated person who tried to hurt people. Anyone using that as a way to brush it aside or defuse what happened is an idiot.
