He was struggling to make ends meet with his meager retirement checks. But he got a job offer as a model and went in for a photo shoot where he made stock photos, such as being on a laptop and holding coffee. The photographers told him to smile for hours, which he did. But then he became a meme. No photographer would do any more photo shoots with him. He ended up having to come out of retirement and work at a steel mill like he used to. He didn't make any money off of being a meme.
