It was an hour long, and maybe 40 minutes of it was about life in the Germany workforce, which seems representative of Germany in general. Most of those people, the adults anyway, seem to spent an awful lot of time working. It's all they really care about. Apparently, employees of various companies are generally not allowed to engage in any social discussions at all, just work-related discussions. Then, when you get home, you're expected to do 3 - 4 hours of housework (well, the wife of the family is anyway, which is pretty sexist).

Perhaps this documentary was focusing too much on middle-aged people. It was basically a pair of Brits in their 40s, trying to "be German" for a while. But, what if it's like this for millennials? After they finish their education, they never leave the house to do anything except work? I don't understand. Maybe this is true, maybe it isn't, but I assumed 20 and 30 somethings spent a reasonable amount of time each month clubbing, shopping, doing leisure activities around their houses, dating, etc. Wtf kind of country is this?

Yeah, I suppose. Well, they still take it too seriously. Plus, when combined with boring, tedious tasks done outside of work, they barely seem to have any time for play at all. I really hope if you're not married with a family to support, you don't behave like this.

Also, sexism. Women are demonised if they still work when they have young children, to say nothing of only 2% of company board directors being women.

Explain to me about how people, especially millennials, live in Germany, then. They seem to have a very strong work ethic, and only want to work, or do other boring things. I French, British, etc, aren't like that (thankfully).

Some people just throw away their lives working.

Just because its a documentary doesnt mean its presenting the facts to you. I would look into the background of the people who produced the film and see if they have any reason to misrepresent what youre supposed to be taking away from the doc

Germans work less hours, get more vacation time, its illegal at least in some states for employers to contact you outside of work hours. They have a great work and life separation. All the young Germans I know are out with friends drinking and hanging out and having fun after work, and travel a lot.
