also I actually like the tom cruise mummy. It had problems but overall it was a good movie. It had the same problems like the marvel movies does. It sucks they cancelled the dark universe before giving it a try.

yea. I wish they made that one about Peru or whatever. before the series was canceled, they were gonna do one about New World mummies in central america.

its the 2nd time. Dracula Unbound was the first movie that was supposed to launch an expanded universe. they keep bombing and then pushing back the universe launch cause they want it to start with a good movie

I didn't even know about Dracula Unbound. I never heard of it or seen promotion for it. By the time the mummy came out, Dracula Unbound was 3 years ago. I heard of the Dark Universe when they where promoting the mummy's release. They were getting their marketing together by then. WB can say Dracula Unbound was part of the universe all they want, but it's like throwing in Howard the Duck into the Marvel Universe saying that was the first Marvel universe movie (George Lucas started it all). I'll accept, but I don't think the push started until after The Hulk (Ang Lee) or in better case Iron Man.

Edit: Also it odd that they would even count that movie since it failed and they didn't even have the cast members for the other movies signed on. Also it took them 3 years to make a follow up movie to that universe with nobody in the original movie in it.

Just because you don't want to believe it doesn't mean it wasn't going to be a part of the Universe. It was going to be the starting point, but it did so bad they decided to wait and start it again with the Mummy. It did bad as well so all plans for furthering the Monster universe has been scrapped for now and possibly for good. If they try again it will be their third attempt to making the Universe.

Iron Man is definitely the first MCU movie, The Hulk has no ties with any future movie it was a stand alone and might have had a sequel if it did well, meanwhile the ending clip of Iron Man hinted at an upcoming Avengers movie. The Hulk also came out 5 years before Iron Man so pretty much way before the fact might as well be calling The Punisher back in 1989 part of the MCU https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098141/.
