He is someone who notes the broken family unit in the Black community, and how important it is for Black men and Black women to settle their issues and start rebuilding the strong families they once had, which in turn will improve the community and contribute to the academic acceleration of their children.

However, his wife and mother of his children is White. He doesn't flaunt that fact (let's say he fell in love with her personality and support, not her race), but some may be annoyed that he is not leading by example.

Is he saying black men and women need to get together for this rebuilding of families? Or is he just saying that black people in general should be building strong families, regardless of race. If it's the latter, no he isn't being a hypocrite

Moreso the former since it'd specifically addressing issues within the Black community. But there could be some of the latter in there as well.

I know some people would be so deep in their feelings about his wife being white, but rationally his views have nothing to do with his marriage and their complaints are irrelevant. It's still quite possible for him to lead by example by working his hardest to keep his family healthy and happy in this troubled world.

And really, this is America. Their interracial marriage is going to have plenty of its own struggles and put up with more than it's fair share of bullshit.

That said i think the idea that two people who aren't compatible should ALWAYS try and force themselves to stay together for kids is stupid to begin with. You can put differences aside for the sake of the child and be civil with each other while both remaining in the child's life. That would do far more good than forcing a relationship just because you had a child together.
