Current Events > 3 great runs in Binding of Isaac back to back and then got destroyed. Spoilers

I had been losing and then I tried out Lazarus and beat the leg for the first time. I then tried out Samson and got the gimp mask. I thought that was OP until my next run as Isaac and I get the Laser with Spectral Shots Polyphemus and Spear of destiny. Ended that run with over 77 damage

Try out Eve next and get lightning shot with mega tears and luck at 4. Notice an Angel room and get teleported to Cathedral. Fight Issac and holy shit he annihilated me. I barely got 1/3 of his health off. So much shit was on the screen I couldn't even dodge

Oh well gonna try Cain since I just unlocked him with Eve. I usually don't like twin stick shooters but this game is amazing

You'll get used to Isaac, he's nowhere near the worst the game has to throw at you. To avoid his beam grid attack, you need to get into a corner adjacent to wherever the attack starts.

Thanks for the tip. I was trying to dodge in between the shots as it moved outward and obviously that didn't work well

Yeah there's still a lot of bosses and stuff to unlock so lots more deaths in the future. Isaac was the first time I really felt overwhelmed

For a character that is supposed to be lucky I've been really getting fucked by Cain. I want to complete normal for all the unlocked characters I have but fuck. I would've won by now if I hadn't picked that garbage targeted tears item. Gotta remember to avoid that piece of shit

The "luck" stat in Binding Of Isaac only effects things like random drops and slot machines. All item rooms are predetermined as soon as you hit Basement 1. If you copy down your seed you can replay the exact same run as many times as you want.

Anyway, Cain's high luck just means he'll get more drops like keys, coins, or bombs. He's no more or less likely to get good item rooms

Lol yeah I know I was just commenting on how badly I have been doing with him I wasn't really blaming the character's luck itself (Although I did get way too many bombs and not enough keys on one run >_>). The item was just what screwed me over on that run

I thought both these guys would be some of the top characters due to having better stats and an extra life but man was I wrong

I also suck at finding secret rooms. I waste more bombs than I find rooms >_>

Secret rooms are usually adjacent to 3 other rooms and the bordering wall in every room must have nothing in front of it (i.e. enemies pits, rocks, poop). If it can't be adjacent to any combination of 3 rooms, it'll then be adjacent to 4 rooms. If that doesn't work, it'll be 2 and then 1. Additionally, the super secret room only borders 1 room and can usually be found adjacent to the room before a boss room, although floors after the Womb tend to put it wherever the hell they want.

Luck was a pretty big deal when there were only like 4 items in the game that affected it, but now that you can get lucky pennies and the like, luck is pretty easy to come by.

Holy shit you're right. Flight + Breath attack = Death from above while avoiding all projectiles. Just got the all stats up increase on first floor too

Azazel is a noobie trap. Flight + mini Brimstone is great early on, but his lack of range will be a problem for the later bosses, specially the optional ones.

It actually does increase, just VERY SLOWLY. As in it takes nearly every possible range boost to get it to a decent length

Love BOI. After a few hundred hours, my favorite thing to do was going for Eden streaks. Think my longest was in the 30's. Sometimes you get lucky and get good stuff right from the start, and other runs are pure slogs, but that's what makes it fun.

Ah I see that makes sense cause I only got a single range item. His attack would be just unstoppable if it went up like the other characters

I also picked up an angel buddy somehow after stepping on a small circle surrounded by big circles in double lock room. No clue how that happened but glad it gave me a bunch of soul hearts

Libra can be REALLY GOOD if your stats are out of whack. It balances Damage/Speed/Range/Rate Of Fire, so if your damage/speed/RoF is super low OR your Range is super high then you can fix it.

Definitely do not take it when overall stats are worse than average (like you've got a few stat ups but a bunch of stat downs) OR when you've got strong important stats like Damage.

Libra can be REALLY GOOD if your stats are out of whack. It balances Damage/Speed/Range/Rate Of Fire, so if your damage/speed/RoF is super low OR your Range is super high then you can fix it.

Libra is good for otherwise horrible items. If you pick up Soy Milk or Tiny Planet, Libra's an absolute godsend. Don't take it when you have high damage, though.

Tape worm is an amazing trinket for Azazel if you can find it. Or rubber cement, then you just shoot into the wall and get a full screen blast.

Find PHD or Virgo. Gets rid of bad pills for the run. Hemetemesis can be creatively used in super secret rooms to drop soul hearts instead. I tend to take every pill on a run to find out if I have a good rotation. Had some runs saved due to them, like several tears up or percs for using a sacrifice room. Using a bad pill once isn't too terrible over the run.

They do get rid of bad pill effects, but there are so many "neutral" effects that they still drown out the good ones.

Positive pills have stronger effects than negative ones. I always use pills unless I'm in a very precarious situation.
