"Mississippi officials are investigating after a dead 20-month-old girl was found in an oven. A grandmother is being questioned in connection to the death of an infant who was placed into an oven and baked in Bolivar County, Mississippi, the local sheriff told WTVA.

The grandmother isn't currently charged but Williams describes her as being in custody. Officials haven't named her or the baby. The suspect was taken into custody and is being held at the Bolivar County Regional Correctional Facility.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain says police were called Monday night to a home in Shaw. There, the young baby girl was found dead in an oven.

Strain says officials are still investigating the girl's cause of death, as well as when the girl may have died. The body has been sent for an autopsy.

Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams tells WTVA-TV the girl had been stabbed, placed in the oven and the oven turned on."

More info has come out. The grandmother has now been OFFICIALLY charged with the stabbing, murder and oven baking (what the fuck!!) of the baby... and she is NOT that old. The baby murderer grandma (Carolynn Jones) is only 48 years old.... NOT 80, NOT 90.... only 48 years old. One of the relatives came over and found the baby literally baking in the oven. Local police was then contacted soon after. Investigators are still trying to figure out WHY the fuck this crazy bitch did this.

Pretty damn sure she's fucking crazy if she's stabbing a fucking baby and then literally cooking the baby in an oven. Regardless of what she has, she should be separated from the general population for the rest of her life. You really want someone like that roaming free?

I get that she may have some disorder which could severely affect her mental state and/or behavior and if so that's truly unfortunate, but she still did something heinous and, prison or institution, she still needs to be away from the general public. I sure as hell wouldn't want to run into her >______>

^THIS, a 20 month old is still a baby. I have a 19 month old nephew at home. Yes, he toddles around (hence the reason why he is called a toddler) but he's still a baby. A baby that can walk on his own (and attempts to climb over baby gates and stuff) but still a baby that primarily talks in baby language most of the time (mostly says stuff like "goo goo ga ga, blah, yaa" in long rants with the occasional English word thrown in like "No" ,"Yes", etc), still drinks from a bottle, still uses diapers (expensive diapers), screams whenever something gets taken away from him (he has an obsession with stealing my shirt hangers and uses them to randomly beat up his singing Mickey Mouse doll and laughs maniacally while doing it), watches stuff like Baby Shark, ABC kids TV nursery rhyme music videos, seems to think that his Smurf doll is real and keeps trying to feed it with real food, etc.
A toddler is still a baby.

ABC news has some more details:

The death of a 20-month-old girl found stabbed and burned inside an oven of a Mississippi Delta home led to a murder charge Tuesday against the child's grandmother, authorities said.

Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams Sr. said 48-year-old Carolyn Jones was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Royalty Marie Floyd in the town of Shaw.

"I've been doing law enforcement for 25 or 26 years now," Williams told The Associated Press. "This is one of the most horrible things I've seen in doing law enforcement. The hardest part ... is to see a child victim."

He said authorities had no immediate answers in the death of the woman's granddaughter.

Jones made an initial appearance Tuesday evening before a judge, who set bail at $500,000. Jones remained jailed and it wasn't immediately clear if she had a lawyer who could speak for her.

Sheriff's officials said Floyd lived with Jones while Floyd's mother lived elsewhere.

Williams said Jones' brother found the body Monday night and called police in Shaw, a town of about 2,000 people approximately 100 miles northwest of Jackson. Police in turn called the sheriff's office and others for assistance.

Spokesman Warren Strain at the Mississippi Department of Public Safety said investigators are still probing for the cause of the girl's death, as well as when exactly the girl died and whether that was before she was placed in the oven. The child's body has been sent to the state Crime Lab in Pearl for an autopsy, though Williams said autopsy results were not yet complete on Tuesday.

Jones was arrested when police arrived at the home and held overnight for questioning while charges were readied, the sheriff said.

"That was the only person who was there with the child at the time," Williams said.

Authorities said they had no immediate information about the circumstances leading up to the child's death.

"That's hard to say," Williams said. "We don't know."

The sheriff said the murder charge was filed after consultations with Bolivar County District Attorney Brenda Mitchell.

Mitchell didn't immediately return a phone call and an email seeking comment Tuesday.

The child was found inside a beige frame house in the north end of Shaw. Police tape still surrounded part of the house Tuesday morning, while a stroller, a high chair, and a trash barrel of toys including a scooter sat near the curb in front of the house. Williams said those toys had belonged to the child.
