The "fall into another timeline where you died so you need to find out what happened to you and how to get back" was one hell of a hook though. The front half of that game was real good.

The problem with Chrono Cross is ultimately it wasn't remotely what I wanted as a Chrono _____ game and especially not as any sort of sequel to Chrono Trigger. If it was its own thing, literally any complaint I have with it would be invalidated.

That time never ended. Look at Kingdom Hearts or XV's shitty narrative.

Regardless, Cross is much better than the garbage Square's churned out over the years.

The plot is boring, convoluted and basically ruins the premise of the first game. It also takes a dump on those Characters and the characters presented in Cross are abysmal wastes of time. Not one of them have any compelling backstory or personality.

I've always been a huge critic of Chrono Cross but felt like the fantrolls would violently attack me for providing logical reasons why it's a poor game.

Even the combat system is bad
