According to some guy I just talked to, he thinks most Americans think that the US won, or they make some BS excuse and think it's a tie. I disagreed and said that most Americans think that North Vietnam won and the US lost. I have seen the argument that the US was there as a supporting ally and it was the South's war anyway, which is true but misleading. The North won, regardless. It was a costly victory for the North, though. They lost nearly 19 soldiers for every American that died (3.5 Northerners, if you add the Southern force's losses, even by conservative estimates). America bailed before the end of the war, failing their objective for the conflict, but not losing the war. Militarily, I dont think the US lost any major battle while in Vietnam, but we eventually pulled out and never really completed our objective of stopping communism.
