Was letting the dog out one last time. I have my flashlight looking for poop and predators, but going extra slow because I've been watching The Haunting of Hill House, so I'm a bit spooked by the atmosphere.

I get to the back so I scan across the yard, everything looks clear, until I get to my immediate left and this skunk is right there, not moving at all, ass facing me. It was within a few feet. I immediately yell "Oh shit!" as I start running and the dog goes nuts barking (and then shits, because she always has to shit when she gets excited)

I really want a gun to shoot this thing. I actually grabbed a big rock from the front and went back very cautiously to try and hurt it, but I didn't see it again. I think it lives in the window well or something.
