I just got offered an internship for a QA position and I'm more bummed than ever.

I don't want to be a QA, man. I don't want to be locked in this path. The company said the internship is a pipeline to full time QA and that they don't hire their QA interns into Developer positions.

The pay is also very, very low for the full time employees. About 20-25k under my cities standard for comp sci grads.

I'm going to take the job since it's better than deeding at home, but man...

this is not the path I wanted to take. I didn't want to do QA as a career

Maybe if you spent less time whining about SJWs, posting about your cuckold fetish, and making it obvious you're a virgin you'd have gotten somewhere.

Oh, and did you remember to take your meds?

I've experienced the same problem, as someone who doesn't mind QA though. It's also been hard for me to find any place that will let me get into writing automated test scripts. The only places that will hire for that want you to have already built an automation framework from the ground up.

It seems no matter what you want to do, you have to already have proven experience doing it. But you can't get that experience because you can't get the job.

that didn't cut into my time at all. I have a lot of free time, I don't really know what I should do as a project that would get me more interviews.

I figured an internship would get me more interviews, but now I'm worried that a QA internship won't amount to anything. All it tells the employer is that I can bug test

What skills do you have? Take the job in QA and build a portfolio on your own time while building your skills and looking for work that interests you.

Yep, he's admitted to being a sub-150lb manlet. Most "soyboys" would probably hand him his ass

milkman is the opposite of a soyboy. Soyboys don't drink milk, and they aren't men, they are boys. I think you are missing the point of the insult.

The insult is that they are not men and that they drink soy instead of milk.

I was scrum master for my senior design team, I know Java, C#, C, Prolog, Javascript, CSS, and HTML. I've made a game in Unity? I have an application that I built in ionic. It uses a firebase database, built with typescript. It has a account system, event scheduling, gps tracking, real time map etc.

idk, man... nothing good. They don't want to see my projects, man or what skills I know :(

they want industry experience and I don't have any

Yeah, that's what I went through. Either you get lucky and be in the right place, at the right time, or you need to have all these extensive experience and proven value. I've had interviews for decent paying dev jobs, then I blew it the last second. I got lucky because I was referenced by someone at the company.
I would never be able to get these interviews on my resume alone.

I think there's another comp sci grad here who complains about working at a call center.

College degrees don't score jobs like they used to. If I were in your shoes, I'd start looking into getting certifications related to what you want to do or building a portfolio. After my first IT certification, I nearly doubled my income. And my degree is in philosophy.

I mean, if I wanted to be an IT guy that's what I would have pursued. I'd rather just join the army than just shift to IT outright.

I should have joined the army years ago.

I can't believe I thought I could be a dev out of college.

Then you need to get some. Somewhere out there is someone who will give you that first opportunity you need. It's great you've got some experience, but make sure you curate what you're showing prospective employers so that it is your best work. Apply everywhere you can for the job you want even if it asks for experience you don't have. Be ready to sell yourself as someone who is hungry for opportunity and is waiting to show off their skills.

One other thing. When you say you know something, make sure you really do know it and have projects on github that back up your experience. Knowing something in business terms means they can give you a project to do with that skill that will make them money and you can do it. It's possible that you might be overestimating your own skills and some places that would hire you are passing you over based on what you've shown them. If you don't have a CS degree, a lot of places require one unless you have extensive experience so you might want to think about taking classes too.

Good luck man. ^_^
