Carpenter intended for Myers to have no reason or purpose to why he was the way he was. Just going off how I enjoyed them (and 6 being better than 2/4/5 is definitely inflated from watching the first 5 in a short time span). To note, I'm not inherently a slasher fan, so the staleness of the formula got to me. 1 is obviously the most well made of all of them. 3 was very entertaining, because of its convoluted plot and stuff (though almost shouldn't be in the ordering). 6 tried to actually change up the formula a little by adding some more elements to the story (not just Myers vs people and police) and was better paced than 2,4,5. Halloween II (Zombie, director's cut) gets the closest to the ideal Halloween movie, which is exploring the actual ramifications of the aftermath of Myers. 2,4, and 5 are essentially the same movie. 2 at least tries to liven it up with the Friday the 13th style "guitar solo kills", but 4 and 5 are just fairly dull and all three of them have the same pacing problem, where about an hour in it just suddenly drops off. 4 versus 5 is sort of not important, I might waffle back and forth between those. Lastly, Halloween I (Zombie) has Rob Zombie taking two movies he wanted to make (Michael the younger years and a remake of the original), taking about half of each of them and cramming them together. The only good stuff is the first half, and that's not even that good. To note, I'm not inherently a slasher fan, so the staleness of the formula got to me. 1 is obviously the most well made of all of them. 3 was very entertaining, because of its convoluted plot and stuff (though almost shouldn't be in the ordering). 6 tried to actually change up the formula a little by adding some more elements to the story (not just Myers vs people and police) and was better paced than 2,4,5. Halloween II (Zombie, director's cut) gets the closest to the ideal Halloween movie, which is exploring the actual ramifications of the aftermath of Myers. 2,4, and 5 are essentially the same movie. 2 at least tries to liven it up with the Friday the 13th style "guitar solo kills", but 4 and 5 are just fairly dull and all three of them have the same pacing problem, where about an hour in it just suddenly drops off. 4 versus 5 is sort of not important, I might waffle back and forth between those. Lastly, Halloween I (Zombie) has Rob Zombie taking two movies he wanted to make (Michael the younger years and a remake of the original), taking about half of each of them and cramming them together. The only good stuff is the first half, and that's not even that good. Just my opinion though, I imagine that people who are big fans of horror movies enjoy other aspects of the films that change the ordering.</quote> ... Copied to Clipboard!

Admittedly I haven't seen 3 since it doesn't have Mike, but the rest were terrible with the thorn cult bullshit. It ruined the mystique around him since he was just supposed to be a bogeyman. The only reason Carpenter was even involved as a producer after the original was because his agent told him they were going to make the movies with or without him so he might as well make some cash. The second Zombie movie is ass though. Not as bad as Resurrection, but that bar ain't high.
