Suppose there's a brand of yogurt, let's call it Moogurt. Their research team or whatever has determined that people are really into healthy stuff these days so they make a second product, Moogurt Light, which contains 50% less fat. Of course the label says 50% LESS FAT THAN MOOGURT.

But the execs decide 50% isn't good enough for marketing reasons so they devise a devious plan. They introduce a third product called Moogurt Ultra, which boasts improved flavor but contains twice as much fat as standard Moogurt. They of course don't proudly declare the fat content, though obviously they're required to include nutrition info, which they do but nobody reads it ofc. Then they slowly phase Moogurt out of production. Eventually they rebrand Moogurt Ultra as Moogurt and now the Moogurt Light label can say 75% LESS FAT THAN MOOGURT.

Has this ever been done?

Or does it happen all the time?
