You should look at the design for the Super Smash Bros Ultimate controller. It's literally just black joycons with lines.

I have no idea why they would make a Smash Pro Controller and not have that in the system bundle instead of the JoyCons.

Idk I think it's pretty neat. Sleek and simple. If they tried to cram too much in there, it'd be a cluster, and if they tried to minimize the characters on there, there would of course be outrage about "wow why did X make it but Y didn't" and all that.
