Way better plot and characters than you'd normally expect from a Tales of game.

Combat actually feels different and gets better at a higher difficulty level; your combos start to matter and the controls feel... more engaging? Hard to describe.

Also, its pretty long. Like, too long.

I am currently playing through this for the first time too, picked it up during a sale a few weeks back. The combat is pretty different from the other games I've played (Symphonia, Vesperia). I thing I'm like 20 hours in and feel like the story still has barely started.

I am currently playing through this for the first time too, picked it up during a sale a few weeks back.

Ha, I got it then too. Haven't started it yet, I'm 12 hours into Tales of Zestiria which I got in the same sale. Not all that impressed with Zestiria. Combat is confusing and feels kind of ... flat.

I haven't gotten that far into Berseria, but it's a hell of a lot better than Zesty for sure.

Eleanor has green eyes so she's good.

Yeah, that's what I heard. I wanted to get the worse one out of the way first, but I really haven't been hooked. I mean I don't really dislike it except for that damn snake that wouldn't stop healing itself so it took forever before I finally beat it. It's just kinda ... there. Still optimistic about Berseria, which hopefully I'll be able to get to when I can find some free time.

Played on hard. Only time I died was when I bumped into an optional monster that far out leveled me.

anyway Eizen da Gawd and Rokuro are the best characters but they're all great tbh

anyway Eizen da Gawd and Rokuro are the best characters but they're all great tbh

The equipment system is definitely at least one step above Zest if only because the skill system attached to it isn't anywhere near as convoluted...

I thought it was okay, by the end of it I was burned out and it by far has the least interesting main villain in the Tales series (Of the games that are actually good at least). Like, holy shit, he's so fucking boring.

Ugh no, the game is not hard. I would disagree that the combat is brain dead but lets not pretend that combat in this game requires much skills either.
