The normal amount is supposed to be 30 ng/mL and above. My blood test showed that I have 8 ng/mL.

Don't most people have low Vitamin D? If everyone has low D then how come the "average" is so high?

going outside and doing stuff in the sun (this one also has the added benefit of giving you some exercise if you don't already do that)

If it is a real doctor's lab test (not a home test, they can be inaccurate) I'd assume you should take some vit d supplement for a couple weeks just to get your levels up and then you manage with diet. But I am no doctor.

Vitamin D3 is better than D2 if you're going to supplement.

Depends entirely on your current level. Usually if you're deficient you need 50,000 U of cholecalciferol (D3) once weekly for 8 weeks.

You need 600 U daily to maintain. Supplements usually have about 2000 U.

Sunlight is pretty much the best source. Vitamin D is pretty rare in general and things that have a lot of it basically have it as an additive, like iodine in salt.

If you have low vitamin D, I suggest getting a specific vitamin D supplemental pills or something. Avoid the ones that have like 8000% or some shit unless your Vitamin D is so low you're literally developing deficiency symptoms.

This only produces 25-OH Vitamin D, not 1,25 Vitamin D, the active form.

Why D3 over D2 or D1?

Just curious

Clearly. You know how much of a bitch it is to draw your own blood?

Also lol supplements. Go outside, free source of vitamin D.
