The highest court of the land needs to be more balanced in the middle as opposed to shifted to one extreme or the other.

It's funny you posted this, because I just read this comment on Quora (yes, I know):

The new Supreme Court, or the Court that will be in place when Trump leaves office (which will most likely be a solid 63 or 72 far-Right majority) will likely overturn portions of the Civil Rights Act - in particular, those that mandate non-discrimination in public accommodations. This will allow all business to discriminate at will, for any reason.

It would be interesting if the Court ruled that states could NOT enact civil rights legislation in the area of public accommodations. Quite possible.

I could also imagine that previous gay rights cases will be reversed - Romer, Lawrence and Obergefell - leaving LGBT rights to the states to decide. We will soon see a patchwork, with some states giving full equal rights to their LGBT citizens, and others giving no legal protections from discrimination or recognition of relationships at all.

Roe v Wade will be gone very soon, but that isnt a Civil Rights Act.

No matter how far-Right the Court, I dont see them overturning laws that mandate that the government itself cannot discriminate on the grounds of race, religion, sex or disability. But businesses? Definitely.

Agreed TC. It's okay if the SC is shifted slightly to the left or right, but have a lot more members of one party is no good.

People have the numbers but unfortunately the way our system works, empty land gets more representation than most people.

Just stack SCOTUS again when the pendulum swings back and increase the amount of Justices. RBG isn't going to die in the next 3 months and being that Republicans have set precedent on not voting during an election year, something that Graham himself confirmed this week, this will likely be the last nominee Trump will get before 2020.

You actually think they give a fuck about voting during an election year? They will ram whoever the fuck they want through and their cult will accept it.

Voting is pointless. People are delusional if they think trump is leaving in 2020 even if he loses. There will never be a non republican in office again.

That's how the electoral college system works.

That would also require there to be a Democrat or moderate in office when there is set to be a vacancy.

I'm sure Trump and his base will throw a tantrum if (hopefully when) he loses in 2020, but there will definitely be non-Republican Presidents in the future.

Oh please, people said the same shit about Obama in 2008. And considering how much Reagan won by, I'm certain people said the same about him in the 80s. And if he refused to leave office after losing an election I'm quite positive the Senate would immediately send his ass packing, as they aren't going to openly embrace a straight up dictator
