E.g. you spend all your time working directly for kings and wealthy businessmen or whatever and doing some mad shit and then you end up with 500 gold in your purse. It's silly.

I can think of two exceptions. GTAV. That was the first GTA game that I played where what you're doing actually has some real-world weight to it. Of course Michael would have a few cool million in the bank. Of course these missions will net you hundreds of thousands of dollars. It was always stupid to me in past GTA games that you'd do a big heist and then end up with $2000 at the end of it.

The other was Fable 2&3, but they failed to balance it in those games. You just buy a bunch of property and eventually you have more money than you can do anything with.

Well in a lot of games most of your cash is earned by punching things to death.

Also a lot of times you aren't working for anyone at all and the heroes are doing whatever they're doing for their own personal reasons.

The original sims had you start working as low level employee in your field making barely anything, than by the time you work your way up the career path to being a famous movie star or whatever, you're making enough to afford giant mansions and whatever you want.

I mean if you don't just use the money cheat. Can't speak for the rest of the sims games though, haven't played them.
