My resident kitten is about 12 weeks old. Her sister that I adopted at the same time as her got deaded a few weeks ago. Now she doesnt let me spend much time to myself. Any time Im home, she has to be in the same room as I or she gets separation anxiety. So today I brought her a new friend, about 4-6 weeks old. I havent let them see each other yet, because ive read youre supposed to introduce new kitties sloowwly. But already, within one hour of bringing the new cat home, theyre prancing playfully at each others paws under the door that separates them. Since my older cat is still very young and has been having separation anxiety, Im thinking she may be ready to see the new kitty much sooner than most cats? Like maybe by tomorrow? So far no signs of aggression or resentment as ive been letting them get used to each others scents (I rubbed them with t shirts and I rubbed the new kitty with my old kittys favorite toy and let old kitty play with it).

Open the door just a little bit and see how each cat reacts, you should be able to open it enough for them to see each other. You can also try putting the new cat in a carrier and introduce them that way. If you're not getting any hint of aggression just go ahead and let them interact, recommend trimming the older cat's claws first in-case a fight breaks out and you have to intervene :P

Well, since they seemed to be getting along, I let them see each other briefly. Old kitty was curious but seemingly friendly of young kitty. But young kitty is scared of old kitty and hissed any time she came near.

I'm not reading that until you post pics. Cat topics without pics should be an instant ban.

I'd put the younger one in a cage and introduce them like that first. In my experience cats can be the most sociable creatures and the most reclusive at the same time, especially around other cats.

This is Arya (gray) and Sansa (orange and now deceased) the day I got them, about 2 months ago.




And this is the last pic I ever took of them together, about a month and a half ago. Sansa, the orange bigger (dead) one, used to put Arya in a headlock while she licked and groomed the top of her head. It was so adorable.


And this is Arya scoping out the new kitten from a distance. She knows new kitty is afraid of her, so shes trying not to upset her .


And this is the best pic I could get of the new kitty (not yet named).


I feel kinda bad for both of them. New kitty is so afraid of Arya, and Arya wants to play so bad, but new kitty keeps on growling at her any time shes gets close.

Jesus...that's so sad. I hope you aren't being hard on yourself about it. I know the urge to - I had a pet bunny that I was carrying when she suddenly flailed in my arms, flopped out, and landed upside-down on the edge of her crate. It broke her back and i had to have her put down. Man, that broke my heart.

I was mostly over it by midday the next day. Never shed a tear it was already past my bedtime when it happened, as I had to be at work early AF the next morning. I didnt have time to grieve. Had to find a way to dispose of the body, then immediately force myself to sleep as soon and as well as I could. It still sucks though because I wanted to see how she would have turned out. The two cats were such an amazing pair. I only hope this new kitty will work out well with Arya. Sorry to hear about your bunny.
