I know. We can just turn streaming into what cable was. Now instead of paying $60 for one service with all channels theyre gonna have to pay $60 for multiple services! Genius!

Yeah pretty much this is the problem. Lots of companies seem to have looked at the success of Netflix and the other early platforms are have thought to themselves "Wait, what if we skip the middle man and have our OWN platform so we can make more profit off our movies being streamed" without the forethought of what happens if everyone does this and why people were utilizing the streaming services in the first place.

On one hand, I get it. Having loads of streaming services suck, and consumers have repeatedly shown that they'll always follow the path of least resistance be that convenient payable services or convenient illegal services.

On the other hand, supporting a monopoly is never a good idea, even currently awesome services like Netflix and Steam.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

I don't really think people want a monopoly.

I just don't want to have to download 8 different apps while managing 8 different subscriptions to watch one or two shows from each one.

I kind of like the Amazon Prime channels idea.

Start with your subscription, and every channel is just a small extra charge.

Like, on the subject of Netflix subscriptions, maybe they can do something like add a Netflix Action channel that lets me watch Bright without letting me watch Silicon Valley.

You should check out what VRV is. It's a service that you can pay $10/month to get access to subscriptions to a bunch of other services. The biggest service they have is Crunchroll/Funimation.

I would agree, but there are loads of people that have an attitude that if it's not on Netflix or Steam it might as well not exist.

Yeah, duh. Marketing dipshits in these companies really don't know what they are doing.

It's a larger issue with gaming though, because that logic doesn't apply in the same way.

Recent Valve blunders, Blizzard being Blizzard, and the fast uprising of GOG have reduced the "no steam no sale" crowd to a pretty tiny minority of people and has also created a demographic where people won't buy anything on steam if it's for sale anywhere else.
