Soy Milk and Tiny Planet are really annoying to use and cut your DPS if you cant use them perfectly

Focusing on dodging rather than damage helps a lot. Pretty much all bosses and enemies have a predictable pattern that isn't too hard to figure out.

Biggest piece of advice. Learn to play more defensively than offensively.

The wiki is great if you want to spoil yourself. It gives you a better feel for how the game mechanics work. For instance, the placement of the hidden rooms on each floor isn't completely random. I wouldn't have figured that out if I didn't read the wiki.

I always liked brimstone or the laser ones because it just makes it easier to consistently hit enemies. I think there are a few others that fire across the screen like that too.

Really the only ones I would say NEVER pick up are stuff like:

cursed eye
soy milk (unless you also have Libra, then it's one of if not the best items you can get)
orbiting tears
anti-gravity tears
bob's brain

Then there are things that are bad depending on what you already have, it would take way too long to go over all of them.

You can get Brimstone on first floor if you're lucky enough.

I have 700 hours in this game on Steam.

Strats I thought were boss 2 years ago are bunk now.

Had an Eden run start the other day with soy milk and mutant spider (4x shot thanks to eden's blessing). First floor treasure room was holy light. Made me feel pretty OP from the start.
