Look at what Zara is pumping out this winter:

This is what the yardstick clothing outlet for "cool but not too cool" has to say. Chandler Bing wants his shirt back.

Why are you so obsessed with fashion? How much money do you spend on fashion each year, pinky?
How much?

Don't like to me Cyric, you know you're not glad about this

May I present my favourite reddit comment on this topic

The trend for the last few years has been slim fitting everything.

First it was slim fit jeans, then skinny jeans, then super-skinny-slim fit jeans. Now fashionable people mostly just sew their clothes on in the morning, try not to eat or drink much during the day so they won't need to use the bathroom, then unpick the stitching before bed.

Cargo-shorts are the antithesis of this trend. They are not just baggy, but have extra bulky pockets sewn on to really emphasise how non-slim fitting they are.

Imagine being the fashionable person standing in your favourite skinny jeans. You're flexing your toes trying to keep the blood flow going against all odds and then you see some dude in cargo shorts. He looks so comfy, he probably just slipped those things on in a second with no special ritual or stances required.

Plus look at those pockets! I bet he's got all sorts of stuff in there, useful necessary stuff. Your own pockets aren't even real. They just stitched some detail in the places where pockets used to be. That's why you have to carry this leather messenger bag everywhere. You don't actually have any documents or a laptop with you, it's basically just a huge empty satchel for your keys wallet and phone. Meanwhile cargoshorts over there probably has everything he needs to survive in the wild for a week tucked away in those pockets.

That's why cargo shorts aren't fashionable.

I say most guys should have a wardrobe of neutral basics anyway, there's been no time in the last 60 years where a white t shirt and jeans hasn't been somewhat fashionable

It's somewhat Ironic, I hope. Zara likes to do that. Exhibit A:

you don't have to hug your nuts to have pants that fit.

fashionistas are weirdos, either it has to be like this jnco clown look or go skin tight, no middle ground. fortunately i think this trend only impacts the fetus demographic.

I don't know if that's true though. The skintight pants thing always gets mentioned but mostly I just see gymbros fuckboys trying to wear stuff like that.

If you'd brought up unconventional materials or extremely high cuffing I'd maybe agree that's a fashionista thing...

I feel like fashion for men is so such easier

I just ended up getting a bunch of different slim fitting Jeans, khakis, dress pants

Slim fitting button ups and polos, I got a nice slim fitted sportsjacket and I feel set. Black/brown reversible belt, watches and some nice colognes

Especially where I live, where I'm 10 minutes away from the Las Vegas strip. Which is basically the place for socialization and partying that's all I see

Fashion for men kind of goes like this imo (1 being least fashionable, 7 being most fashionable);

1. Neckbeards/abandon all hope
2. Regular gamer developer dude who doesn't much care
3. Divorced dad who buys a hugo boss dress shirt and calls it a day
4. Guy who starts getting his shit together & wants to look basically presentable
5. That^^^ guy but with more disposable income and personal touches
6. Stuff starts getting weird and unpleasant looking but also somehow cool as fashionista decides that looking sexy is overrated
7. Peak david bowie but who knows what the fuck is going on anymore

Most guys are happy to operate at 4, which is where you get your aesthetically appealing inoffensive menswear that most people will agree looks good.

I am at a point now where I only wear things that fit me well. I also make sure that I only wear solid colors and do not deviate outside of mostly grayscale with the exceptions of some dark green colors. I believe that decision fatigue is actually a thing so I tend not to buy many things that don't go well together. My wardrobe is minimal at best, meaning I have only what I need to get by and I can probably throw any combination together and it will look presentable. If a new piece of clothing catches my eye and offers more versatility I will donate one thing and replace it with the new piece after careful consideration.

I have disposable income but avoid personal touches and hoarding, so I guess I'm at 4.

This one is very good, would wear. Even though it also mixing different styles, but it looks better than other two.

It's fairly ubiquitous so really it could fall under any of those categories depending on the specific shirt and jeans.

But with how you mentioned it, probably 2 or 4.
