Did you have a stroke

Watch out, he'll call you condescending for pointing out his obvious flaws.

Nah, mocking a typo is good fun. Taking shots at a persons ability like saying I expected less of you like you did is a far more condescending insult. Ive seen his posts, he doesnt normally seem to point out his superiority or the inferiority of others like you routinely do.

California has the highest poverty rate of any state when you include things like housing costs.

Oh? But liberals told me poverty is the number one reason for crime, but if California is so safe, does that mean poverty really isnt correlated to crime that strongly?

maybe California's relatively generous welfare state mitigates the harmful consequences of poverty to some extent, gee I wonder

But liberals told me if welfare programs were more genrerous, poverty wouldnt be as high in the long run, does his mean poverty really cant be helped by good welfare programs?

it means that various policies impact poverty rates and that California is good on some of those metrics and is bad on other relevant metrics

Every time I've been to San Diego I only saw white people.

Or maybe that's because I live in Los Angeles.

I've seen a lot of Asians in Orange County and San Francisco, I never thought of San Diego as an Asian area of California, but it is a very wealthy city filled with scenery and rich people who buy beach vacation homes so I guess it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of wealthy Asian families moved there

I would say it depends on what you're looking at and the relative size of those things.

For instance, housing costs in California are driven up by supply limitations that are largely local. Having large SNAP benefits doesn't help if your issue is housing costs.

But if you look at Arkansas, where there is a relatively higher problem with food insecurity and much less of a problem with housing costs, expanded Section 8 housing or vouchers would not help address that particular challenge.

So it's much more specific than the net size of the 'welfare state'

anyway, California is a diverse place. People from the south who stereotype California as being filled with only antifa cucklords or gang bangers haven't been here.

There are plenty of rich "conservative" neighborhoods all over the state.

It just depends on where you live.

I live in Los Angeles, but I live in the valley, specifically in a middle class to upper middle class Jewish area.

It's pretty safe and decently nice, like half the people here are Jewish trust fund babies.

There are plenty of bad areas in Los Angeles, but there are plenty of good ones too

Im curious, what do you think would address the housing problem in Cali. You said it yourself, its a supply limitation problem, not sure how effective government subsidized housing would alllevitae the issue if the crux of the problem is supply.

I've said only slightly ironically that areas zoned for single-family housing should be illegal.

I don't actually mean that as a serious policy proposal because it would never happen, but if it did, that would solve a lot of California's housing problems even without touching anything else about the zoning code or more general land use regulations (which we should also do)

this is off topic now though lol

Maybe thats just me then, I wasnt raised to go around to make proclamations of my view of other peoples self worth, especially when its to imply I had very low expectations of them, as if I know the person they are. I was just taught thats an assholeish way to interact with people, maybe you were raised differently.

Slight but not too far off. Bako/Fresno have rich farmers/oil makers that are usually conservative, but the towns overall are pretty bad compared to the bay, LA, and SD.

And SD is more way purple than conservative. City Council is mostly Democrat and they support sanctuary policies
